A brief history of Unity
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Two of same denomination
churches in Flint, Michigan merged in 1994 to form Unity Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ). The first of three phases of a
building project (at our current address) was a multi-purpose room
covering about 7000 square feet which was dedicated in May, 1998.
This room is now being used as a sanctuary/fellowship area and
includes a large kitchen at one end. The second phase covering about
4200 square feet was an education wing, including eight classrooms
plus a nursery and a library, which was dedicated in April, 2002. A
formal sanctuary, phase three, is now on the planning boards. Prior
to worshipping in the new facility, the congregation met in the
building owned by one of the original churches. After that building
was sold, the congregation rented rooms for worship, fellowship, and
Sunday school classes at Baker Community College of Flint. They also
rented space at another location for offices.
